Flavonoids
Flavonoids are expressed primarily as yellow pigments (Flavus – yellow in Latin), which helps in attracting insects from pollinators, but also appear as blue and purple pigments that help the plant to absorb certain wavelengths of light. Flavonoids give the color to bloom and protect the plant from ultraviolet radiation, but they also have many less-studied medical properties and little information about them. There are more than 5,000 different flavonoids in edible plants, vegetables and fruits and are particularly known for their anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Flavonoids in cannabis have not been studied enough and information about them is scarce.
